On April 13, Da Nang City People's Committee said that it had sent an official letter to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Vietnamese Embassy in India and the Vietnam National Authority of Tourism to respond to information about discrimination against tourists.

Previously, Da Nang City People's Committee received Official Dispatch No. 90/NLI-CD-ĐSQ of the Vietnamese Embassy in India reflecting information related to negative experiences and discrimination of Indian tourists in Vietnam.
Through inspection and verification by relevant agencies and units and review on the city's feedback receiving channels, so far no signs, notices or acts have been detected in the city containing discriminatory content towards Indian tourists, no tourism business establishments have been recorded hanging signs or notices with the content "No Smoking - No Indian" or having forms of refusal of service that are discriminatory based on nationality.
The hotline of the Tourism Rapid Response Team and the city's Tourist Support Center have also not received any feedback from Indian tourists related to the above issue.
In order to promptly provide accurate information and avoid affecting the image of Vietnamese tourism in general and localities in particular, Da Nang City People's Committee respectfully requests the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Vietnamese Embassy in India, and the Vietnam National Authority of Tourism to coordinate with relevant agencies to verify the authenticity of the information.
At the same time, providing official information and verification results to domestic and international news agencies and newspapers to correct inaccurate content, affirming that Vietnam, specifically in Da Nang city (Hoi An ancient town), does not have discrimination against tourists in the form as mentioned (showing the sign "No Smoking - No Indian").
Da Nang City People's Committee will continue to direct departments, agencies, branches, localities and related units to strengthen state management of tourism, promote propaganda, and guide tourism service business establishments to improve service quality and behave civilized and professionally.
The city is determined not to let discrimination against tourists occur in any form, contributing to preserving and enhancing the image of Da Nang as a safe, friendly and attractive destination.
