On the afternoon of April 13, the Central Organization Committee and the Standing Committee of Thanh Hoa Provincial Party Committee held a Conference to announce the Politburo's decision on the transfer of Senior Lieutenant General Le Duc Thai - Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Minister of National Defense, Head of the National Assembly Delegation of Thanh Hoa province, to hold the position of Secretary of Thanh Hoa Provincial Party Committee.
Attending the conference were Mr. Nguyen Duy Ngoc - Member of the Politburo, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Organization Committee; Mr. Nguyen Doan Anh - Member of the Party Central Committee, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly; along with representatives of leaders of the Central Organization Committee, Ministry of National Defense, Commander of Military Region 4, Provincial Party Committee, Thanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee and provincial departments, agencies, and branches.
At the conference, representatives of the Central Organization Committee announced the Politburo's decision on the transfer and assignment of Senior Lieutenant General Le Duc Thai - Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Minister of National Defense to participate in the Executive Committee, Standing Committee and hold the position of Secretary of Thanh Hoa Provincial Party Committee, term 2025-2030.
Mr. Le Duc Thai (born 1967, from Hiep Hoa ward, Quang Ninh province), professional qualification Bachelor of Border Guard.
In 1987-2011, he held the positions of: Armed Team Leader, Deputy Station Head, Station Head at Border Guard Stations and some working positions under the Quang Ninh Provincial Border Guard Command.
In 2011-2014, he was Deputy Commander, Chief of Staff of the Border Guard of Quang Ninh province.
In 2014-2017, he held the position of Commander of the Border Guard of Quang Ninh province.
In July 2017, he was appointed Deputy Commander of the Border Guard Command, and was also promoted to the rank of Major General.
In September 2019, he held the position of Deputy Commander cum Chief of Staff of the Border Guard.
In July 2020, he was assigned to be in charge of the Border Guard Command.
On August 6, 2020, at the 15th Congress of the Border Guard Party Committee, term 2020-2025, he was elected to hold the position of Deputy Secretary of the Border Guard Party Committee.
On September 11, 2020, the Prime Minister signed Decision No. 1399/QD-TTg appointing him to the position of Commander of the Border Guard.
On January 30, 2021, at the 13th National Party Congress, he was elected as a member of the 13th Party Central Committee, term 2021-2026.
In August 2021, he was a member of the Party Central Committee, Lieutenant General, Member of the Central Military Commission, Commander of the Border Guard.
On November 4, 2025, the Prime Minister signed a Decision appointing Mr. Le Duc Thai to hold the position of Deputy Minister of National Defense, and was also promoted from Lieutenant General to Senior Lieutenant General.
On January 22, 2026, at the 14th National Party Congress, he was elected as a member of the 14th Party Central Committee, term 2026-2031.
On April 8, 2026, the National Assembly Standing Committee approved Mr. Le Duc Thai - Member of the Party Central Committee to hold the position of Head of the 16th National Assembly Delegation of Thanh Hoa province.
