On June 2, 2026, the Publishing, Printing and Issuing Department issued a document requesting the Writers' Association Publishing House to temporarily suspend publication; and at the same time organize a review and re-evaluation of the content and report explanations on the reflected issues.
On June 3, 2026, the Writers' Association Publishing House had an explanatory report and review results. The Publishing House acknowledged some limitations in the organization of manuscripts, editing, appraisal and content presentation techniques, especially related to the accuracy of some historical data and the way of expression in some paragraphs; and at the same time took responsibility from the Publishing House and the Publishing House's leaders for the limitations and shortcomings that occurred during the publication of the book, proposing appropriate remedial measures.
On June 4, 2026, based on the Publishing House's report, the independent evaluation results of the management agency and based on the provisions of the Publishing Law on the responsibilities of the Publishing House, the Director and Editor-in-Chief of the Publishing House, the Publishing, Printing and Issuing Department issued a document requesting the Publishing House to stop publishing and organize the recall of the book; and at the same time review and clarify the responsibilities of relevant organizations and individuals in accordance with the law.
On June 7, 2026, to ensure that the implementation is implemented synchronously and effectively, the Publishing, Printing and Issuing Department has sent a document to the Departments of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Departments of Culture and Sports of provinces and cities requesting coordination to inspect and supervise the compliance with the request to stop issuance and recall.
It is proposed that the National Library of Vietnam and the provincial-level public library system temporarily stop putting the book into service for readers until there is an opinion from a competent authority; at the same time, it is proposed that the Vietnam Writers' Association, as the governing body, direct the Publishing House to strictly implement the requirements for handling and clarifying the responsibilities of relevant organizations and individuals according to regulations.
