The exhibition is organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Korea in coordination with the Embassy of Korea in Vietnam, the Korean Cultural Center in Vietnam and the Korea Creative Content Agency (Chairman Jo Hyun-rae).
This Korean Webtoon Exhibition in Vietnam will introduce to the public the original content and images of two webtoon works, "Itaewon Class" and "Sweet Home", which have been adapted into TV series and ranked in the Top 1 most favorite movies on Netflix in Vietnam in 2020.
The exhibition simulates the model of the drinking place and the alley of Itaewon (Itaewon Class) and the abandoned apartment building with the monsters inside (Sweet Home). The public, especially the young people, can also experience the reality as if they were standing in the space of the work.
In addition, the exhibition also includes diverse spaces related to the two works such as: Webtoon coloring, Webtoon postcard stamping , experiencing Korean pub recipes, taking photos of transforming into monsters, Webtoon library...
Many other diverse programs take place including: Webtoon drawing contest, meeting Webtoon authors, experience dressing up as Webtoon characters...
As part of the series of activities of the Korean Webtoon exhibition program in Vietnam, the Webtoon drawing contest with the theme "What are Vietnam and Korea in you?" will be awarded on September 7, 2024.
In addition, on September 8, the program to meet KwangJin - the author of Webtoon "Itaewon Class" promises to bring many interesting things to the audience, especially the musical performance of songs in the movie and K-Pop songs that are loved in Vietnam.
In particular, this exhibition not only organizes programs for the public to visit but also organizes a business connection program for businesses operating in the Webtoon comic industry.
As part of the exhibition's activities, the Korea Creative Content Agency Representative Office in Vietnam will organize a B2B online business connection session on comics and Webtoons between Korean and Vietnamese enterprises with the theme "Competitiveness of K-Contents in the Webtoon and Animation Industry"; a workshop on K-Webtoon copyright organized by the Korean Copyright Agency.
Director of the Korean Cultural Center - Mr. Choi Seung Jin said: "According to the actual survey results on the Hallyu wave abroad in 2023, Webtoon is the Hallyu content with the highest consumption in Vietnam.
The Korean Webtoon Comic Exhibition, held for the first time in Vietnam, promises to bring a new experience to Vietnamese people, while opening up business opportunities in Vietnam for Korean Webtoon comics like previous successful business models that have gone beyond Webtoon, expanding to other industries such as television dramas.
The Korean Webtoon Exhibition “K-comics World Tour” is a Webtoon exhibition held in many countries around the world starting in the Philippines (Manila) in June, Vietnam (Hanoi), Indonesia (Jakarta), Belgium (Brussels) in September, Italy (Rome) in October and Singapore in November.
