Dr. People's Artist Do Quoc Hung was appointed Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Conservatory of Music

On the afternoon of July 25, at the Ho Chi Minh City Conservatory of Music, Dr. People's Artist Do Quoc Hung was awarded the Decision to be appointed Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Conservatory of Music.

According to Decision No. 1799/QD-BVHTTDL signed by the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism on July 23, 2026, Mr. Do Quoc Hung was transferred and appointed from the position of Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Vietnam National Academy of Music to hold the position of Director of Ho Chi Minh City Conservatory of Music. The term of appointment is 5 years.

On behalf of the leaders of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Deputy Minister Ta Quang Dong presented the appointment decision and congratulated the new Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Conservatory of Music.

Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Minister Ta Quang Dong congratulated the Ho Chi Minh City Conservatory of Music after many years of only being the Acting Director, now there is a Director. The Deputy Minister emphasized that the transfer and appointment of Dr. NSND Do Quoc Hung as Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Conservatory of Music by the Standing Committee of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism can be said to be a new turning point for the Conservatory of Music.

The Minister as well as the Standing Committee of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism hope that this will be a new factor to promote the Ho Chi Minh City Conservatory of Music to develop further" - Deputy Minister Ta Quang Dong expressed.

The Deputy Minister expressed his belief that Dr. People's Artist Do Quoc Hung will join the Board of Directors, officials, and lecturers of the Ho Chi Minh City Conservatory of Music to continue to promote the school's tradition and achieve even greater achievements in all aspects.

Speaking to receive the assignment, Dr. People's Artist Do Quoc Hung expressed his emotion when receiving the transfer decision from the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and considered this as "a great predestined relationship, a meaningful turning point in his artistic life".

He emphasized that his task is to join the Board of Directors in continuing the valuable values that many generations of leaders, educators, artists and officials have painstakingly nurtured, and at the same time, together with the collective of the Conservatory of Music, create new developments suitable to the requirements of the times.

I came here not only as a manager but first of all with the heart of an artist, a teacher, a colleague who always wants to be listened to, shared and accompanied by all of you," Dr. People's Artist Do Quoc Hung shared.

Dr. People's Artist Do Quoc Hung was born in 1970 in Dong Anh (Hanoi). As one of the leading bass voices in Vietnam, he won the First Prize in the National Chamber Music - Musical Competition in 2000, the Gold Cup of the Pyongyang Spring International Music Festival in 2004 and has many international performance experiences in Germany, Russia, North Korea...

He was once invited to stay as an artist at the Hannover Opera House (Germany) after training and performing here in 1998, but chose to return to Vietnam to continue his teaching and performing career, contributing to the country's art.

Not only making his mark in performing activities, NSND Quoc Hung also has many contributions in vocal research and training. The project "Training Opera Singers in Vietnam" (Stage Publishing House, 2021), developed from his doctoral thesis, is a valuable monograph document, proposing many approaches to combine academic vocal techniques with traditional Vietnamese music elements.

In many years of teaching, he has trained many generations of grown-up singers, including Meritorious Artist Hoang Tung, Meritorious Artist Truong Bac, singers Quang Ha, Nguyen Tran Trung Quan... For his contributions to art, he was awarded the title of People's Artist by the State in 2019.
