On the morning of September 14, Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee organized the announcement of the Prime Minister's Decision to recognize the National Treasure of Bac Binh Avalokitesvara statue.
The Avalokitesvara Bac Binh statue is made from black gray sandstone, 61cm high, weighing 13kg, dating from the 8th - 9th centuries. Despite a broken ankle and a large part of his right arm, the statue still clearly shows its shaping characteristics.

The artifact was first discovered by local people in 1945 while working in the fields in Thanh Kiet village, Hong Thai commune, Lam Dong province.
In 1996, this artifact was buried by the people in their garden. In 2001, while digging the foundation to build the gate, local people continued to rediscover it and hand it over to the museum.

Archaeologists assess that the statue is a rare historical document, marking the artistic transformation from the 7th-8th century shaping style to the peak development period of the Tra Kieu style (9th century).
This is also a vivid testament to the formation and development of the South Central region, contributing to depicting the historical and cultural appearance of Cham Pa.
