On the afternoon of June 18 in Hanoi, the Ministry of Home Affairs coordinated with the Ministry of Finance to organize the Vietnam - Singapore Innovation Talent Exchange Forum.
Each year, the Vietnam - Singapore Innovation Talent Exchange Program will recruit 300 candidates from Vietnam. Candidates will be granted a work permit with a maximum validity of 2 years.
Candidates can work in fields in many fields, not limited to green economy, agricultural technology, financial services, medical technology, semiconductors, and digital technology/communications.
The job positions in the program will be related to one of the 15 fields. Candidates participating in the program must meet all the requirements of being 30 years old or younger and have graduated with a bachelor's/ master's/doctorate degree or a degree from one of the higher education institutions on the selected list.
According to the list, candidates in Vietnam must graduate from 5 universities including: Hanoi University of Science and Technology; Hanoi National University (University of Natural Sciences, University of Technology, International University); Ho Chi Minh City National University (University of Technology, University of Natural Sciences, University of Information Technology, International University); Da Nang University (University of Natural Sciences, University of Technical Education); Duy Tan University.

Responding to Lao Dong reporter's question regarding the criteria for selecting the above universities, Ms. Kim Ngoc Thanh Nga - Deputy Director of the National Innovation Center (NIC), Ministry of Finance - affirmed: The viewpoint of the authorities is to wish to expand the maximum number of suitable candidates participating in the program.
However, to emphasize the key fields that the two countries want to focus on in the next 3-5 years, the program will prioritize candidates from the school of science, technology and information technology. The purpose is to get candidates to work at technology corporations, in jobs related to information technology engineering.
According to Ms. Nga, this is the initial policy and the list of schools participating in practice is much broader. The program is expanded to more than 100 schools, specifically 127 schools, including about 50 Vietnamese universities and more than 50 international schools. Graduates from Vietnamese and international schools can participate.
"That does not mean that students from other schools do not have the opportunity. Their opportunity lies in the fact that if they register to participate and have their applications, work experience and suitability accepted by businesses/cellsells, they can still participate in the Singapore labor market through this program," said Ms. Nga.
The most important criterion for registering for the program is to have the application accepted by Singaporean enterprises/ companies, not just an entrance exam from a university.
Speaking further about this content, Dr. Ha Thi Minh Duc - Deputy Director of the Department of International Cooperation (Ministry of Home Affairs) - emphasized that the candidates from the schools that are being initially selected will be the pioneers. Their good working quality will be a testament to the quality of Vietnamese students in general, opening up opportunities for many other candidates in the future.
