Iphone users are eagerly waiting for the latest beta version of iOS 16 with two new features on iMessage. The new edit options feature allows you to edit iMessage messages even after they have been sent. Additionally, the message recovery feature allows you to recall messages that disappear from the recipient's inbox on the iMessage app.
According to Apple's previous confirmation, when using the new feature on iMessage, both senders and recipients will have to install the iOS 16 version because these features are not backward compatible - edits that are not valid on older iPhone models running software versions such as iOS 15. However, according to 9to5 Mac, that has changed with the iOS 16.2 beta update on June 22.
According to The Verge, now, when users edit messages sent via iMessage on an iOS 16 iPhone or iPad. In the 2 beta, for devices running iOS 15 or earlier, they will receive another message with edited content with the Edited for label (" edited into")
Those who have installed the iOS 16 beta on Apple devices can edit and recall iMessages messages by pressing and holding a message in the app. However, these options are only available 15 minutes after the message is sent. After the time expires, you cannot edit or delete that message anymore. But you can edit a message as many times as you like.
iOS 16 is still in the testing phase for developers (developer beta). Apple is expected to release a public beta to more users in July, and the final stable version of the operating system is set to launch in the fall.
However, the ability to recall and edit messages will only be available to those who have a conversation between iPhone and iPhone. After Android phone comes on, those new features will no longer be available to any members of the iMessage group. When all parties are using this feature while running iOS 16, the original message that is sent with an error will be automatically replaced with an edited and corrected version of the message.
