On August 8, the Ho Chi Minh City Inland Waterway Port Authority said that functional agencies are investigating the cause of the wooden boat fire that occurred on the Saigon River.
According to initial information, at about 6 am on the same day, a wooden boat with an unidentified registration number was traveling in the direction from Binh Quoi to Saigon Bridge. When it reached the area opposite Truong Tho Port - pier No. 3, the vehicle suddenly caught fire.
Upon receiving the news, the Fire and Rescue Police Department (PC07) of Ho Chi Minh City Police dispatched specialized vehicles to the scene. Two fire canoes approached the wooden boat to spray water to put out the fire.
At about 8:10 am, the fire was controlled. Through preliminary screening, this was a wooden ship carrying groceries. At the time of the incident, there were 2 people on the vehicle.
The fire killed Ms. V.T.R (born in 1973). The other person managed to swim ashore and was then taken to the hospital for emergency treatment. The identity of this person has not yet been determined.
The fire caused the wooden ship to be completely burned. According to the Ho Chi Minh City Inland Waterway Port Authority, the incident did not cause oil spills and did not affect the channel of ships running on the Saigon River.
Currently, the cause of the fire is being investigated and clarified by functional agencies.
