Information from the Traffic Police Department (CSGT) - Ministry of Public Security, on the evening of February 17, 2026 (the 1st day of Binh Ngo Tet), the Traffic Police force of 34/34 localities simultaneously launched a campaign to control alcohol concentration according to the order of the Director of the Traffic Police Department.
In the time frame from 7 pm to 11 pm, inspection activities are deployed on many key traffic routes to promptly detect and prevent the risk of accidents right in the first days of the new year.
Through controlling 38,090 vehicle trips including 323 passenger cars, 1,304 trucks, 9,860 passenger cars, 25,735 motorbikes and 868 rudimentary vehicles, functional forces discovered and made records of 1,646 cases of alcohol concentration violations, including 1 case of truck driver, 43 passenger cars, 1,542 motorbikes and 60 rudimentary vehicles and other vehicles.
This number of violations is double that of the midday inspection from 10 am to 2 pm on the same day.
In parallel with the alcohol concentration topic, traffic police also handled many violations directly related to traffic safety, such as 502 cases of not having a driver's license, 349 cases of not having vehicle registration, 38 cases of not having a rearview mirror and detecting 1 case of drugs in the body.
Functional forces have temporarily seized 1,646 vehicles and 191 driver's licenses for handling according to regulations.
According to statistics, during the inspection period from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM on the same day, a traffic accident related to alcohol concentration occurred in Hai Phong, injuring 2 people.
The Traffic Police Department said that the simultaneous alcohol concentration testing nationwide from the morning of the 1st day of Tet will continue throughout the holiday.
Control activities at the same time nationwide will become a regular and continuous task, including during holidays and Tet, in order to gradually form the habit of "if you have drunk alcohol, don't drive", contributing to reducing accidents and ensuring safety for people traveling in spring at the beginning of the year.
