On July 3, Dong Le Commune People's Committee (Quang Tri province) said that the unit coordinated with Tuyen Hoa Forest Protection Department to hand over 2 Indian falcon individuals to the Center for Rescue, Conservation and Development of Organisms, Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park for care and temporary rescue while waiting for verification.
Functional forces received 2 falcons, weighing about 0.6 kg, discovered and notified by Mr. Tran Van Son (Xuan Phu village, Dong Le commune). Mr. Son said that the 2 falcons were lost in his family's garden. Realizing that these are rare and precious wild animals, the family proactively reported to the local authorities and functional agencies for handling according to regulations.
At the time of receipt, the 2 Indian eagles were in normal health, and were young birds, so they could not find food on their own. After handover, the Center for Rescue, Conservation and Development of Organisms will perform specialized care. Within 5 days, if the owner cannot be identified, functional agencies will decide to re-release them to nature or transfer them for long-term conservation.
The Indian eagle, scientifically named Accipiter trivirgatus, is a endangered, precious and rare forest animal, belonging to group IIB according to Circular 85/2025/TT-BNNMT of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, managing endangered animal species and implementing international conventions on the trade in wildlife.
Local authorities and functional forces recommend that people raise awareness of wildlife protection; not hunt, farm, trade or illegally transport endangered, precious and rare species, contributing to biodiversity conservation and protection of natural ecosystems.
