On the afternoon of June 23, the Office of the People's Committee of Dong Thap province issued a press release on the reception of 6 red-crowned crane individuals at Tram Chim National Park in 2026 (phase 2).
Accordingly, the ceremony will take place at 2:00 PM on June 24th at the headquarters of Tram Chim Commune People's Committee. This is an activity to continue the cooperation program between Dong Thap Provincial People's Committee and the Thai Animal Park Organization (ZPOT), Vietnam Zoo Association (VZA) and International Crane Association (ICF), after the success of the first reception in 2025. The red-crowned cranes transferred all serve the goal of preserving, building and restoring the crane herd at Tram Chim National Park according to the Project on conservation and development of red-crowned cranes for the period 2022-2032.

Not only carrying the meaning of supplementing the precious gene source, the program "Bringing Cranes Back" is also expected to contribute to restoring the wetland ecosystem in Tram Chim National Park - the 2,000th Ramsar area of the world, once a famous residence of red-crowned cranes in the Mekong Delta.
Notably, the cooperation in red-crowned cranes conservation between Vietnam and Thailand has been elevated to a national level. In the talks between senior leaders of the two countries on June 8, 2026 in Hanoi, the Thai side affirmed its readiness to transfer red-crowned cranes to Vietnam to serve the goal of biodiversity conservation and sustainable development.

According to the Organizing Committee, at the ceremony, the results of the business trip to receive red-crowned cranes in Thailand from June 21 to 23 will be announced; information on the technical cooperation process between the two countries in crane care and nurturing; and at the same time, the results of crane care at Tram Chim National Park and the official establishment of this unit as a member of the Vietnam Zoo Association will be introduced.
On this occasion, the People's Committee of Dong Thap province will also express gratitude to organizations, businesses, experts and individuals at home and abroad who have accompanied the locality in implementing the Red-crowned Crane Conservation and Development Project. These contributions are expected to continue to create a foundation for Dong Thap to gradually become a center for red-crowned crane conservation in the region.
Through the program, Dong Thap province continues to call on the community, organizations and businesses to join hands in protecting nature, preserving biodiversity and accompanying the "Bringing Cranes Back" journey, towards sustainable restoration of the Tram Chim National Park ecosystem.
