On January 15, functional agencies are cordoning off the scene to investigate the case of 2 people dying, suspected of being suffocated by gas while working in a drainage ditch.
According to initial information, on the same morning, workers organized inspections and constructed dredging of sewers in Tan Ngoc neighborhood, Phu My ward. At about 11:30 am on the same day, a worker climbed down to the drainage road on Hoang Viet street and encountered an incident.
A colleague above immediately climbed down to support, but then also encountered an incident. People around shouted for help, used fans to blow air down the sewer mouth and drop ropes, but could not save these 2 people, so they reported to the authorities.
Rescue forces quickly arrived, using specialized equipment to approach and bring the 2 victims to the ground, and transferred them to Phu My Regional Health Center for emergency treatment. However, both did not survive.
Currently, the case is being investigated and clarified for settlement according to the provisions of law.
