According to Kien Giang Provincial Police, after nearly 3 months of implementing a system to monitor and handle violations of traffic safety and order in the whole province using AI cameras, the number of violations has decreased significantly. This system is not only a tool to support ensuring traffic safety but also helps raise people's awareness of complying with traffic laws.
The application of a surveillance camera system is not only a support tool, but also an effective method of detecting and handling violations, helping the Traffic Police force easily record and handle violations without being present directly. Currently, in Kien Giang province, dozens of surveillance cameras have been installed and put into operation to monitor and handle violations of traffic safety and order.
Since its implementation, 24 cases of non-compliance with traffic lights have been detected and handled; 73 cases of stopping and parking in violation of regulations; 16 cases of going in the wrong direction, reversing on the one-way street. Compared to the same period last year, the number of violations has decreased significantly, which demonstrates the clear effectiveness that the monitoring system brings in changing the behavior of traffic participants.
Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Chi Nhan - Deputy Head of the Traffic Police Department of Kien Giang Provincial Police said: "Cold fines have brought about clear results, traffic violations have decreased significantly, especially acts such as running red lights, speeding, or stopping and parking in violation of regulations. The camera system not only helps us handle it in a timely manner but also contributes to changing people's awareness. Many people have begun to voluntarily comply with traffic laws, because they know that all violations will be recorded and handled even without the presence of the police force.
Penalties imposed through the camera system not only help promptly handle violations but also change people's awareness of complying with the Traffic Law. Previously, many traffic participants had not really paid attention to legal regulations, but since the camera system was deployed, many cases of fines have caused them to start to actively change their traffic behavior.
According to statistics from the Traffic Police Department, people's traffic violations have decreased sharply. In particular, speeding violations, one of the main causes of traffic accidents, have decreased significantly compared to before the camera system was deployed, Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Chi Nhan added.
Ms. Tra Thanh Thanh, a resident of Rach Soi ward, Rach Gia city, shared: In the past, I sometimes did not pay attention to complying with traffic rules, but since I learned about the surveillance camera system, I have always paid more attention. I am also careful not to get fined. When it was time to go to the red light, I saw everyone waiting at the correct set of seconds, not running early when the red light was a few seconds away".
Mr. Dinh Cong Nghiem - a resident of Vinh Quang ward, Rach Gia city said: "Since the camera camera was available, I have seen red light running, swerving vehicles, traffic collisions, and accidents at intersections have decreased significantly, people's awareness of participating in traffic has changed positively. I myself also reminded my family and friends not to violate the law".
The camera traffic monitoring system is increasingly effective, helping to reduce violations and traffic accidents, while raising awareness of traffic participants.
