Dong Lon group and Deo Ai group, Nuoc Dang village, Dang Thuy Tram commune, currently have 48 households with 161 people. Since people came to settle in this land, the national power grid and telephone waves have not been covered.
Shortages of essential infrastructure and a bumpy and isolated transportation system have caused the lives of 48 households in these two groups to face countless difficulties.
Without national grid electricity, the light source in each house mainly relies on supported solar panels. However, that meager electricity is only enough to light up a light bulb or operate a small fan for a few hours each day.
Ms. Pham Thi Hong, residing in Deo Ai group, said that her house has electricity but is only enough to light for a few hours in the evening, and she cannot use it further. Lacking stable power supply, people still have to use wood stoves to cook and boil water.
If lack of electricity causes many inconveniences in daily life, the lack of phone signal makes the village even more isolated. To contact relatives or make phone calls when needed, many people have to go to higher locations to catch the signal.
No phone signal, no TV, updating current affairs information, accessing the Party and State's guidelines and policies, as well as learning economic development models all face many limitations.
Meanwhile, transportation is still a constant concern of the people here. Each trip to bring agricultural products to the center, each time transporting production materials or taking patients for examination and treatment is a journey through bumpy dirt and rock roads.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Van, Chairwoman of Dang Thuy Tram Commune People's Committee, said that the locality has proposed to invest in two resettlement areas to arrange housing for households in Dong Lon and Deo Ai in the period 2026 - 2030.
In which, Ho Sau Resettlement Area is planned on an area of about 2 hectares, arranging 19 residential land plots for households in Dong Lon group. Deo Ai Resettlement Area has a scale of about 3 hectares, arranging 31 residential land plots for households in Deo Ai group.
Both projects are synchronously invested in transportation, electricity, water, drainage, lighting and other essential infrastructure works, with a total estimated cost of about 55 billion VND.
According to Ms. Van, when people are arranged to live in concentrated places, investment in national grid electricity and transportation, clean water, telecommunications, schools and medical facilities will be more convenient and synchronized. This is also a condition for people to access information, apply science and technology to production, and improve their material and spiritual lives.
For projects to be implemented soon, the locality really needs the attention and support of the province and departments and branches in arranging investment resources. When the two resettlement areas are completed, not only the power grid problem but also the infrastructure difficulties of Dong Lon and Deo Ai will be gradually removed, creating a foundation for people to stabilize their lives and develop for a long time," Ms. Van said.
