On the afternoon of November 9, in Tra Tap commune, Da Nang city, a tragic drowning incident occurred, killing 1 child and leaving 1 child missing while swimming in a stream with a group of friends.
According to Mr. Le Trung Thuc, Chairman of Tra Tap Commune People's Committee, at around 11am the same day, a group of 5 children went to Nuoc Na stream (in village 1, Tra Tap commune) to bathe and were suddenly swept away by the water.
The 3 children were lucky to drift to shore and were saved by local people, while the 2 children Ho Van Lac (13 years old) and Ho Van Sang (8 years old), both residing in Tra Tap commune, were swept away by the water and went missing.

Immediately after receiving the news, the commune government coordinated with the police, militia and local people to search along Nuoc Na stream. At 3:30 p.m., the authorities found Lac's body, about 200 meters from the accident site. The search for Sang is still being urgently deployed.
Mr. Thuc said that on the same morning, upstream hydropower plants released water after many days of heavy rain, causing the stream water level to rise and flow rapidly. "The children did not know about the discharge, and still went to the stream to bathe, so this heartbreaking incident happened," he said.
Local authorities are visiting and encouraging the victims' families and continuing to direct forces to search for missing people.
