Commemorating the 79th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs' Day, Ho Chi Minh City will present memorial photos restored to relatives of martyrs' families.

On the morning of July 22, at the headquarters of the Ho Chi Minh City Command (Cach Mang Thang Tam street, Hoa Hung ward), 54 families of martyrs in the city will be respectfully presented with restored portraits of their loved ones. This is the first donation phase in a series of gratitude activities towards the 79th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs' Day (July 27, 1947 - July 27, 2026).

This meaningful program is implemented by the Ho Chi Minh City Command in coordination with the Ho Chi Minh City Police and Team Lee charity team. Previously, all photos expected to be donated must complete the restoration, cross-checking and be certified for accuracy by relatives before July 20.

To ensure solemnity and absolute accuracy, each photo after restoration undergoes a thorough examination process. Accompanying personal information such as full name, hometown, work unit, year of sacrifice to each facial feature of the martyr are carefully reviewed to avoid any errors.

The Ho Chi Minh City Command said that the gratitude gift sent to the families not only includes a portrait printed and framed solemnly, but also a digital photo file, handover minutes and a sincere thank you letter.

In addition to the centralized ceremony, for photos that have been completed but are not on the list for the first phase of awarding, the Military Commands of localities will advise the Party committees to organize the handover to families. It is expected that on July 24 and 25, Binh Dong, Ban Co and Tam Thang wards will hand over restored photos right at the grassroots level.

Recreating the portraits of heroic martyrs not only helps preserve sacred memories for each family but is also a practical action to spread the morality of "When drinking water, remember the source". This activity is also a meaningful stepping stone to educate patriotism, towards the grand celebration of the 80th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs' Day in 2027.
