On September 23, at Mo Cay Bac Martyrs' Cemetery, Phuoc Trung hamlet, Phuoc My Trung commune, Vinh Long province, the Provincial Steering Committee 515 organized a ceremony to pay respects, commemorate and bury 65 sets of remains of martyrs.
Attending the ceremony were Colonel Tran Quang Thanh - Deputy Director of the Department of Social Policy, General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army; Major General Quynh Van Ngon - Deputy Political Commissar of Military Region 9, Head of Steering Committee 515 of Military Region 5.
On the side of Vinh Long province were Mr. Tran Van Lau - Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the Provincial National Assembly Delegation; along with leaders of the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the province and former leaders of Ben Tre province.
In a solemn and respectful atmosphere, delegates offered incense to President Ho Chi Minh and heroic martyrs at the Memorial House, observed a minute of silence, and expressed their gratitude to those who sacrificed for the Fatherland.
Reading the eulogy at the memorial service, Ms. Nguyen Thi Be Muoi - Provincial Party Committee Member, Vice Chairwoman of the Provincial People's Committee, Head of the 515th Provincial Steering Committee, emphasized that many generations of Vietnamese people have dedicated their youth to independence and freedom.
In the two resistance wars against French colonialism, American imperialism and performing international missions to help Cambodia, tens of thousands of outstanding children of Vinh Long set off to the front, contributing to the whole country to achieve glorious victories.
Over the past time, the Steering Committee 515 of the province and sectors and localities have actively deployed the search and repatriation of martyrs' remains. In the past nearly 3 months alone, functional forces have searched and repatriated 65 martyrs' remains.
The search process has the coordination of local Party committees, authorities, people, Team K90 under the Political Department of Military Region 9 and the Provisional Team for Searching and Repatriating Martyrs' Remains under the Provincial Military Command.
Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Thi Be Muoi affirmed that although the identities and hometowns have not been determined, the martyrs are all people who bravely sacrificed for the independence and freedom of the Fatherland.
Bringing 65 sets of remains of martyrs to be buried at Mo Cay Bac Martyrs' Cemetery shows the responsibility, affection and deep gratitude of the Party Committee, government, armed forces and people of Vinh Long province.
Before the spirits of heroic martyrs, the Party Committee, government, people and armed forces of the province are determined to continue to promote revolutionary traditions, well implement gratitude work, search for and repatriate martyrs' remains.
