On April 24, the Provincial Party Committee Steering Committee on summarizing Resolution No. 18-NQ/TW held the 6th Session to give opinions on the implementation of the Project on the arrangement of commune-level administrative units (ADUs) of Quang Ngai province and the Project on the arrangement of Quang Ngai and Kon Tum provinces.
The meeting was chaired by Ms. Bui Thi Quynh Van - Secretary of the Quang Ngai Provincial Party Committee.

The report at the meeting stated: Through collecting voters' opinions on the Project to reorganize Quang Ngai and Kon Tum provinces, 99.65% of voters in Quang Ngai province voted in agreement with the merger of Quang Ngai and Kon Tum provinces.
Regarding the collection of voters' opinions on the Project on arranging commune-level administrative units in Quang Ngai province: There are 6 districts, towns and cities using place names to name new administrative units; 7 districts initially named some administrative units in order. However, after receiving voters' opinions, 24 communes have changed and renamed the new ADUs according to the place names. Through the consultation, voters highly agreed with the Project on arranging administrative units at the commune level of Quang Ngai province.
For the Project of arranging the commune level of the commune of Quang Ngai province, the province has strictly implemented the direction of the Central Government. After the arrangement, the province decreased more than 67% of the communes, ensuring the right orientation of the central government, and not forming the commune units too large or too small, to ensure the development space.
From the initial 170 communes, after the arrangement, Quang Ngai province will have 55 communes and Ly Son special zone; Kon Tum province will have 102 communes and 40 communes. Thus, the new Quang Ngai province after the arrangement will have a total of 95 communes and 1 special zone.
