On October 15, the People's Committee of An Giang province held a conference to review the work of combating smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods in the first 9 months of 2025 and deploy tasks for the last 3 months of 2025.
Mr. Nguyen Thong Nhat - Director of the Department of Industry and Trade of An Giang province - said: In general, the market situation in the province is stable; essential goods are fully supplied, there is no speculation, hoarding, or unreasonable price increases. The fight against and control of smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods has achieved initial results, basically being controlled, no hot spots arising in border areas and the intra-provincial market.
However, the situation of smuggling and illegal transportation of prohibited goods and goods from Cambodia to Vietnam is still happening, sometimes difficult to control, especially for foreign cigarettes and drugs. At sea, illegal transfer, transportation and trading of DO oil continues.
In the country, the situation of trading and transporting prohibited goods, smuggled goods, and commercial fraud still occurs incidentally and dispersedly with many violations: trading in smuggled goods, incorrect labeling of goods, counterfeit goods, unknown origin, violating regulations in business.
In the first 9 months of 2025, the functional forces of the Steering Committee against smuggling, trade fraud, and counterfeit goods (Steering Committee 389/AG) discovered 1,286 violations, including 308 cases of illegal trading and transportation of prohibited and smuggled goods, 237 cases of trade fraud and 28 cases of counterfeit goods and 713 other violations. Handling 1,360 administrative violations; paying the state budget more than 211 billion VND. Criminal prosecution of 40 cases/51 subjects.

Speaking at the conference, Permanent Vice Chairman of An Giang Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Thanh Phong - Head of Steering Committee 389/AG acknowledged and praised the spirit of participation of the forces that have closely followed the area in the work of combating smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods. In the last 3 months of 2025, the Department of Industry and Trade (the standing agency of the Steering Committee) is required to preside over and coordinate with relevant departments and branches to simultaneously implement a peak period on 3 routes: border, sea, and inland. Organize peak periods on key topics: drugs, foreign cigarettes, DO oil, sugar, cosmetics - functional foods, electronics, gold. Establish joint task forces at hot spots, stay in the area, the subjects go to alleys, warehouses - yards - wharves - gathering points to control, detect and handle violations.
Assign the Provincial Police and the Department of Industry and Trade, according to their functions and tasks, to closely coordinate with focal points for receiving information, especially information in cyberspace. Tracing accounts, warehouses "closed orders" online, and eradicating the ring. Standardize the process of receiving - verifying - processing reports in the shortest time. Publicly warn of new tricks for people and businesses to identify and participate together. Resolutely handle violations from administrative to criminal.
For localities that have not yet established a Steering Committee 389 at the commune level, it must be urgently established immediately for operation. Coordinate with functional forces to review warehouses, wharves, yards, and cargo transit points in the area. Request subjects and organizations at high risk of violations of smuggling, trade fraud, and counterfeit goods to sign a commitment to comply with the law; if violations are discovered, they must be strictly handled.
