Recently, the situation of production and trading of counterfeit and poor quality goods has tended to increase in the whole country in general and Kien Giang province in particular, with many increasingly sophisticated and reckless tricks. This situation has seriously affected the health of consumers.
In that situation, implementing the direction of the Ministry of Public Security, Kien Giang Provincial Police launched a peak period of attack and suppression of counterfeit goods production and trading crimes throughout the province. The professional units under the Provincial Police closely coordinated with the Commune-level Police to simultaneously conduct inspections of business establishments, warehouses, key traffic routes, etc.
Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Xuan Thang - Deputy Head of the Economic Police Department, Kien Giang Provincial Police - said: "This peak period aims to increase the effectiveness of the fight against and strictly handle the acts of producing and trading counterfeit and poor quality goods. We focus on subjects with signs of smuggling, organizing a sophisticated counterfeit distribution network, frequently transporting and hiding goods in border areas or through major transport routes. The goal is to prevent subjects from taking advantage of loopholes in management to defraud consumers, affecting a healthy business environment".
After a week of peak deployment, the Provincial Police have detected and handled many violations. Many counterfeit, unquality goods such as cosmetics, functional foods, medical supplies, fertilizers, pesticides, etc. have been seized.

Notably, the subjects are increasingly using sophisticated tricks to deceive the authorities, from packaging, labels to counterfeit anti- product labels that are sophisticatedly counterfeit, making it difficult to distinguish with the naked eye. There are even cases of mixing real and fake goods to deceive consumers.
Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Minh Tien - Deputy Captain, Economic Police Department of Kien Giang Provincial Police - said: "Through inspection work, we have found many subjects using sophisticated printing technology to forge fake labels, anti-counterfeit stamps and packaging. There are even establishments that mix real and fake goods to avoid inspection. In the first week of the campaign, we discovered a number of cases with large quantities of counterfeit goods, and are continuing to expand the investigation to strictly handle them according to the law".
Ms. Le Thi Thanh Kieu - business owner - said: "As a business establishment, we always put the interests of consumers first. All imported goods have a clear origin and are carefully checked before being sold. I strongly support the police force during this peak period because it will help clean up the market, create trust for buyers and help genuine business people like us feel secure in their operations".
