The incident occurred at around 5:00 p.m. on May 13, in Thuong Vuc commune, Chuong My district. While releasing a kite in the field, three male students (13 years old) had an accident when the kite got stuck to a high-voltage power line. The students used metal sticks to recover the kite and were electrocuted and fell into a ditch nearby.
The leader of Thuong Vuc Commune People's Committee said that when people discovered that a student died on the spot, one was unconscious to be taken to emergency at Military Hospital 103, the other child suffered a burn. Besides the victims, the functional forces discovered an iron stick - the item they used to remove the kite.
"The area where the students release the kites is a field near the Dragon Market. At the scene, all three students were lying unconscious on the bank of a ditch, above which a power line ran through. Many people tried first aid but could not catch up," said a representative of the commune government.
