According to a quick report from the Road Maintenance Management Board (Department of Construction of Lao Cai province), from October 3 to 4, the circulation of storm No. 10 caused serious damage to the traffic infrastructure system in the area with a total estimated value of about 49.6 billion VND.
In Lao Cai, more than 330,000m3 of landslides were recorded, nearly 1,900m of landslides were recorded and more than 14,000m2 of road surface was damaged.
In addition, many roads were flooded, with fallen trees, damaged guardrails, vertical ditches and drainage culverts.

In the rain from 4pm on October 3 to 4am on October 4 alone, an additional 38,000m3 of rock and soil were eroded, causing heavy damage.
The traffic routes that were severely affected include National Highway 4D, National Highway 32, National Highway 4E and many provincial routes such as: DT152, DT156, DT156B, DT161 and Tram Tau - Bac Yen route.
Some sections are still congested; of which, DT162, DT153 and DT156 routes have been temporarily opened to traffic, while the Tram Tau - Bac Yen route is expected to open before October 6.

Currently, the Lao Cai Road Maintenance Management Board is directing maintenance contractors to regularly mobilize human resources and machinery to overcome landslides, clear mud and install warning signs to ensure safe traffic.
Right after storm No. 10, storm No. 11 ( Matmo) appeared in the East Sea. According to the forecast, the circulation of storm No. 11 will cause widespread heavy rain in Lao Cai province. Heavy rain has a high risk of causing flash floods, landslides and inundation in low-lying areas.
To proactively respond to storm No. 11 and the circulation of the storm, ensuring the safety of people's lives and property and the State, the Chairman of Lao Cai Provincial People's Committee requested departments, branches, and agencies that are members of the Provincial Civil Defense Command; Chairmen of the People's Committees of communes and wards; relevant agencies and units according to their assigned functions, tasks, and authority to direct and organize implementation with the most urgent, drastic, timely, and effective spirit;
Do not be passive or surprised in responding to natural disasters, especially the risk of floods, landslides, flash floods, and localized inundation; absolutely do not be subjective or negligent to ensure the safety of life and minimize damage.
