According to local reports, some damages updated as of 5:00 p.m. on September 16, 2024 are as follows: Regarding people: 329 people dead, missing (291 dead, 38 missing), 1,922 people injured.
Regarding housing: 236,065 houses were damaged, roofs were blown off; 83,401 houses were flooded. Regarding agriculture: 200,721 hectares of rice were flooded and damaged; 50,642 hectares of crops were flooded and damaged; 61,072 hectares of fruit trees were damaged; 3,722 aquaculture cages were damaged and swept away; 26,485 livestock and 2,936,840 poultry died.
Regarding the power system: 14 500kV line incidents, 40 220kV line incidents, 190 110kV line incidents; 1,678 medium voltage line incidents; 6,151,022 customers lost power (currently 165,823 customers lost power), of which 315 industrial parks and industrial clusters lost power.
Regarding communications: 8,290 fiber optic cable lines were damaged (7 inter-provincial cable lines, 12 intra-provincial cable lines, 8,271 branch transmission lines); 210 telecommunications antenna poles were broken...
According to the Department of Dyke Management and Natural Disaster Prevention and Control, up to now, there have been 667 dike incidents nationwide in 14 provinces/cities, including: 79 dike landslide incidents, 47 embankment extrusion incidents, 147 seepage incidents, 200 dike body leakage incidents, 9 dike surface cracking incidents, 78 dike overflow incidents, 1 local dike overflow incident, 4 termite nest collapse incidents, 7 dike slope erosion incidents, 82 culvert incidents, 4 embankment landslide incidents, 2 embankment cracking incidents, 6 riverbank landslide incidents, 1 dike break incident; including: 353 incidents on dike routes from level III and above; 314 incidents on lower-level dike routes.
Regarding traffic: 820 locations on national highways were blocked (567 locations due to landslides and damaged structures; 253 locations were flooded due to rising floodwaters) and many intra-provincial roads were blocked with a total volume of rock and soil of 5,760,041 m3; the Northern railway was blocked at the Doan Thuong - Lao Cai section; 4 airports Van Don, Cat Bi, Noi Bai, Tho Xuan temporarily stopped operating on September 7 when the storm made landfall.
The total economic loss was initially estimated at over 32,787 billion VND. Localities are currently continuing to review and update damage statistics.
