On January 30, the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Hue City chaired and coordinated with the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF-Vietnam) to organize the "Communication Forum to mobilize the participation of the community and stakeholders in sustainable biodiversity conservation".
The event attracted nearly 120 delegates to share experiences, contribute opinions, and propose solutions to mobilize the community to implement the National Strategy on Biodiversity.
Mr. Nguyen Dai Anh Tuan - Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Hue City said that in the past time, the Hue City Forest Protection Department has established many community conservation groups, with the core being village elders, village heads, youth, women's unions and reputable people. The groups participate in patrolling, monitoring, removing traps, and at the same time acting as "nuclei" of communication to mobilize people not to hunt, trade, or consume wild animals. This approach creates a shift from "officials speaking - people listening" to "community speaking - community changing".
According to the organizers, in the period 2020 - 2025, more than 60 communication events were organized; training for more than 3,000 people; nearly 1,400 people participated in in-depth discussions; mobilized nearly 200 service establishments to sign commitments "Say no to wildlife". On this occasion, the organizers commended 8 typical collectives and individuals.
