On April 19, the Dak Lak Provincial Forest Protection Department said that the unit is implementing measures to protect and conserve the herd of rare storks (also known as snail storks) discovered migrating to the fields in Tuy Hoa ward (formerly Phu Yen province).
Over the past time, in Tuy Hoa ward, it has been recorded that a flock of about 1,000 storks migrated to the fields during the day to find food. At night, the whole flock flew to the forests to rest.
Before the information that some subjects appeared using traps to catch this stork flock, the Dak Lak Provincial Forest Protection Department had a document requesting local authorities to coordinate with the Son Hoa Regional Forest Protection Department to protect the area where the stork flock migrated, foraging and sheltering at night.
The forest protection agency also proposed to promote propaganda and mobilize people to strictly comply with regulations on management and protection of animals listed in the Red Book.
At the same time, not to let the situation of hunting, trapping and catching storks and swallows occur; and resolutely strictly handle acts of hunting, killing, keeping, transporting, and storing animals on the list of rare and precious animals.
Co nhan is an animal listed in the Vietnam Red Book, with the scientific name Anastomus oscitans, belonging to the herbivorous family, abalone, at level R (extremely rare). Co nhan often appears in South and Southeast Asian countries.
