On March 22, a video appeared on social media recording the incident of a railway barrier automatically opening while a freight train was approaching. At this time, some vehicles had just passed through the level crossing.
Talking to a reporter from Lao Dong newspaper, Mr. Nguyen Bac - the person who posted the video said that this is an image taken from the dashcam of his car.
According to Mr. Bac, the incident occurred at around 11:23 a.m. on March 22, at the railway crossing intersecting with National Highway 1A, in Dung Tien commune, Thuong Tin district, Hanoi.
At that time, the automatic barrier was opened, and according to the reflection, vehicles began moving through the level crossing. Just about 15 seconds later, a freight train arrived.
"I was extremely surprised, the train passed very quickly, while the barrier was open. The moment I stopped the car when the barrier opened was about 20 seconds. As soon as he passed the crossroad, the train arrived," Mr. Bac shared.
According to Mr. Bac, when he saw the train appearing, he looked back and saw many vehicles preparing to pass through the level crossing. Fortunately, people around stood up in time to call for everyone to stop.
"About 100m away was a barrier with people on duty, people then ran to report. This is the first time I have witnessed such a rare incident.
Fortunately, there were no human or property losses. After this incident, I hope everyone will pay attention before crossing the level crossing, even when the barrier has opened," said Mr. Bac.
According to research, this is a section of the road across the residential area equipped with an automatic warning system and barrier. In response to information about the above incident, the Traffic Police Department (Ministry of Public Security) will send officers and soldiers to verify.
Previously, at around 10:30 a.m. on March 19, on the Hanoi - Dong Dang railway line, section Km64+300 in Chua Ngoai village, Huong Lac commune (Lang Giang, Bac Giang), a specialized vehicle, a railway lift - suction - locomotive (not a locomotive) collided with a 5-seat car. A few seconds later, the car was hit by a railway vehicle, pushed about 10 meters away before stopping. Fortunately, the accident did not cause any human casualties.
