A VNPT employee said that from around 9:00 a.m. on March 15, he and many colleagues were directed to My Tho City to support the incident caused by the fire. The technical team worked through the night to weld the fiber optic cables together to restore VNPT's services in the area as quickly as possible.


Mr. Nguyen Van Vu (residing in My Tho city, Tien Giang province) said that he uses VinaPhone's mobile subscriber. By March 16, his mobile subscriber had been able to make calls to contact relatives.


Talking to Lao Dong Newspaper reporters over the phone at noon on March 16, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Hoi - Director of VNPT Tien Giang - said that currently, VinaPhone's mobile subscribers and 3G and 4G services have been operating smoothly, covering the entire Tien Giang province. For the internet, about 97% has been restored, it is expected that wifi, internet and 2G will be completely restored in Tien Giang province, reaching 100% on March 16.
As reported by Lao Dong Newspaper, a fire broke out at VNPT Tien Giang building in the early morning of March 15, causing widespread Internet disconnection.
According to initial information, the fire broke out inside the VNPT Tien Giang building (My Tho City). After receiving the information, the leaders of Tien Giang Provincial Police directed the Fire Prevention, Fire Fighting and Rescue Police Department (Tien Giang Provincial Police) to mobilize forces and vehicles to the scene to put out the fire. At the same time, the leaders of the Provincial Police were also directly present to direct the fire fighting work.
The fire affected the transmission line, causing disruption to VinaPhone mobile service, VNPT Internet and landline phone in My Tho City (Tien Giang Province).
