The Dragon Market, which has existed for hundreds of years in Hoa Lu city (Ninh Binh), is being demolished to hand over the site for the Nam Song Van Irrigation Complex project and the Cha La bridge project.

In recent days, the construction unit has been demolishing part of Area A of Dragon Market. Meanwhile, hundreds of traders still defy the danger to do business and trade at stalls inside the market.
According to Ms. Dinh Vu Huyen - Head of the Department of Site Clearance and Resettlement of Hoa Lu City, in the immediate future, the construction unit will demolish part of the southeast part of the main communal house of Dragon Market.
The total demolition area is 100m2/floor, a total of 3 floors is 300m2 of the main floor of the Rong market. The total number of small businesses affected is 9 households, the households agree, guidelines and policies of the province and city, currently the households have been supported and moved to other central markets in Hoa Lu city for business and trading. Currently, the inside of the market still has over 200 households doing business and trading.

"Before carrying out the demolition, the People's Committee of Hoa Lu city coordinated with the Center for Quality Inspection of the Department of Construction of Ninh Binh province to appraise the demolition plan to optimize and ensure the safety of the remaining structure of Dragon Market and neighboring works" - Ms. Huyen said.
Talking to Lao Dong Newspaper reporter, Mr. Pham Van Ton - Deputy Secretary of the Ward Party Cell of the Dragon Ninh Binh Market Management Board also admitted that it is very dangerous for businesses to do business while the market is under demolition. The market management board has also promoted traders to move to do business at other markets in the city. However, up to now, many traders have not agreed.
According to Mr. Ton, to support businesses moving to other locations, the People's Committee of Hoa Lu City has developed Project 01 to support each household with 30 million VND when moving to a new business location.
"Up to now, more than 130 households have moved to the new location according to Project 01 of the City People's Committee" - Mr. Ton said.

Mr. Hoang Hoa Thang - Vice Chairman of Hoa Lu City People's Committee said that the total area of Dragon Market is over 5,000m2 with over 200 small businesses doing business and trading. Currently, the city has only demolished 100m2/floor to serve the construction path of Cha bridge. In the coming time, the city will lower the entire Dragon Market to serve two projects: Nam River and Van River irrigation cluster and renovate the landscape of the Van River.
In the immediate future, the city is encouraging traders to move to markets in the city center such as Ninh Binh General Unit Market, Thanh Binh Market... while speeding up the construction of Van Giang Market so that traders have an immediate trading location.
