According to the reporter of Lao Dong Newspaper, on the afternoon of August 26, floodwaters on the Chu River (the section flowing through Bai Thuong Hydropower Plant, Thuong Xuan Commune, Thanh Hoa Province) were still rushing, overflowing the spillway of the plant area.

The rising water level of the Chu River has also overflowed into Thong Nhat village, causing many households to be deeply flooded.
Ms. Le Thi Quyen (owner of an agricultural supplies store in Thuong Xuan commune) said that at around 9:00 p.m. on August 25, floodwaters suddenly raided her house. "We called for help from everyone and the authorities arrived to support us, but we couldn't wait. All the rice, bran, medicine, fertilizer... were flooded, causing damage of about 300 million VND" - Ms. Quyen sadly said.

Due to the rising water level of the Chu River, a section of National Highway 47 through Thuong Xuan Commune was also deeply flooded, making it difficult for people and vehicles to travel.

Many people in Thong Nhat village said that they have never seen floods rise so quickly and flood as deeply as this time. Currently, the people's biggest wish is for the rain to stop and the water to recede quickly to soon clean up the house and stabilize their lives.
