According to observations, from 10am on August 26, rivers and streams in many mountainous communes of Thanh Hoa will have water pouring in with a very large flow. Mr. Trinh Vinh Luc - Party Committee Secretary, Chairman of the People's Council of Son Dien Commune, Thanh Hoa Province said that for the past two days, the area has continuously had heavy and prolonged rain. However, in the early morning, the water level of the rivers and streams was still normal, and by around 10am the water rose rapidly. "The water rose rapidly, clearly visible with the naked eye," he said.

According to Mr. Luc, the immediate impact is that the entire fish pond is overflowing and losing everything, and the rice fields along the rivers and streams are heavily flooded. Currently, some villages have been isolated. Notably, Sa Mang village had a power outage due to a power station fire, and at the same time completely lost communication, and the phone could not be connected.

"As early as noon on August 25, we have evacuated all 29 households in high-risk areas to safe places. Currently, the lives of the people are still guaranteed" - said the Secretary of the Commune Party Committee.

He also said that police forces, military, border guards, militia and security forces have been mobilized and deployed at overflow points and along rivers and streams, absolutely not allowing people to pass.

"Not only stopping at recommendations but completely prohibiting the collection of firewood and fishing during floods," Mr. Luc emphasized.
