On April 20, information from Phu Thien Commune People's Committee, Gia Lai province said that at about 3 pm on April 19, a boy K.T. A (born 2024, residing in Plei Tel B village, Phu Thien commune) went to the ditch area in front of his house to play.
While adults were not paying attention, the boy suddenly fell into the ditch. When people discovered and brought A ashore, the victim had died.
Upon receiving the news, leaders of Phu Thien Commune People's Committee and mass organizations visited and expressed condolences to the victim's family. The locality also supported the victim's family with more than 4 million VND.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Thuy Mui - Vice Chairwoman of Phu Thien Commune People's Committee said that the victim's family is in difficult circumstances. At the time of the incident, adults were in the house but did not pay attention, so child A went to the ditch to play and encountered the accident.
During the summer, the risk of drowning in young children increases. The commune continuously recommends that families need to strengthen supervision, not let children play near ponds, lakes, rivers, streams, and ditches to avoid unfortunate incidents.
