On January 17, a source from a reporter of Lao Dong Newspaper said that the People's Committee of Ben Tre province has issued a decision to establish a Council to appraise the environmental impact assessment report of two projects to exploit minerals for common construction materials (sand for filling) on the Ham Luong River.
According to this decision, the Appraisal Council will assess the environmental impact of two sand mines, including An Hiep - An Ngai Tay mine and An Duc - An Hoa Tay mine in Ba Tri district (Ben Tre province). Mr. Bui Minh Tuan - Director of the Department of Natural Resources and Environment of Ben Tre province - was appointed as Chairman of the Council; Mr. Vo Van Ngoan - Deputy Director of the Department of Natural Resources and Environment of Ben Tre province - was appointed as Vice Chairman of the Council at the above two projects.
The Environmental Impact Assessment Report Appraisal Council is responsible for reviewing and appraising the environmental impact assessment reports of the two above-mentioned projects, taking legal responsibility for the appraisal results and sending the results to the Chairman of the Ben Tre Provincial People's Committee for consideration and approval. The Appraisal Council shall dissolve itself after completing its tasks.
Previously, on November 6, 2024, the People's Committee of Ben Tre province approved the recognition of the auction results of the right to exploit minerals for common construction materials (river sand). Accordingly, the An Duc - An Hoa Tay sand mine on Ham Luong river (in An Duc commune and An Hoa Tay commune, Ba Tri district) was won by Hai Dang Joint Stock Company, with the amount of VND 169,248,447,000.
The An Hiep - An Ngai Tay sand mine on Ham Luong River (in An Hiep and An Ngai Tay communes, Ba Tri district) was won by Hai Dang Joint Stock Company at the auction, with the amount of VND 155,922,380,000.
For Quoi Son sand mine on Tien River (in Quoi Son commune, Chau Thanh district), Thanh Huy Group Joint Stock Company won the auction, with the amount of 163,044,424,000 VND.
