According to Lao Dong Newspaper's reporter at the end of March 2025, the campus of Bac Kan General Hospital, which is nearly 20,000m2 wide, is now covered with weeds, many areas are overgrown with trees, covering the path.
The rows of houses are old, the walls are peeling, the roofs are covering, and many glass doors are broken. Some rooms have been abandoned for a long time, the floor is covered with dust and household waste.
The areas that were previously the infirmary and treatment area now only have a walled wall framework, with clear traces of deterioration.
Not only is the infrastructure damaged, this area has also become a gathering place for social evils. In some dark corridors, many needles were thrown away, plastic bottles and plastic bags were scattered.
Mr. Nguyen Van Hung (Bac Kan City) shared: Previously, when the hospital was still operating, this area was very crowded, with people coming and going continuously. But since the hospital moved, this place has been deserted and desolate, no one dares to enter.
Many people living near the old hospital area could not help but regret that a large plot of land in the city center had been abandoned for a long time.
According to local people, the current chaos not only causes loss of aesthetics but also poses many potential risks to security and safety. Therefore, it is necessary to soon have a plan to use it, contributing to urban beautification.
According to research, the headquarters of Bac Kan General Hospital has been abandoned since 2016, after the hospital moved to a new facility.
In April 2023, this project was handed over to the People's Committee of Bac Kan City for management. The local government has repeatedly proposed exploitation and conversion plans to take advantage of land funds, but so far it has not been able to be implemented due to problems with mechanisms and planning.
In fact, leaving a large-scale project abandoned right in the city center not only causes waste but also creates many consequences.
Talking to reporters, Mr. Hoang Ha Bac - Chairman of the People's Committee of Bac Kan City - said that the old headquarters of Bac Kan General Hospital is looking for a plan to adjust the planning accordingly.
"Many investors are interested, but the old norms and unit prices are not in line with their view. The city has also assigned the ward to monitor and inspect, and directly hired people to look after to ensure safety in this area," the leader informed.
