During the 2026 New Year holiday, when many agencies and units temporarily suspend operations, at the Chau Doc - Can Tho - Soc Trang expressway construction site, a national key project with a total investment of more than 44,000 billion VND, the working atmosphere is still urgent. Many engineers and workers continue to stick to the construction site, working throughout Tet to ensure project progress.

Records of Lao Dong Newspaper reporters show that on the route, construction points are deployed simultaneously. Workers focus on constructing items to complete roadbeds, treat weak soil foundations and construct key traffic intersections. The sound of machinery operating continuously creates a vibrant working rhythm during the Tet holidays.
Talking to reporters, Mr. Chu Van Duong - technical officer of Joint Stock Company 471 - said that the unit is undertaking the construction of 3.2km of road and bridge, including bridge 10 Thuoc and bridge 1300. To date, the unit's construction output has reached about 50% of the volume.

To meet the progress, the contractor has strengthened manpower, equipment and organized construction throughout the 2026 New Year holiday. On the route, there are currently many parallel construction points such as load-bearing sand filling, permafrost planting, treating weak soil foundation, and constructing bridges and culvert systems," Mr. Duong informed.
Regarding bridge 10 Thuoc, the contractor is focusing on speeding up progress with the goal of girding during the Lunar New Year, striving to complete it in the first quarter of 2026. The bridge has a width of 17m, including 3 spans, spanning the canal 10 Thuoc, with a total length of 96m. Currently, the construction site arranges about 60 workers, along with many equipment such as bulldozers, transport vehicles, rollers and excavators, ensuring continuous construction during the holidays.


Also on this expressway, Mr. Le Dinh Duy - construction officer in charge of Construction Service and Trading Joint Stock Company 68 - said that the unit is undertaking the construction of 2.7km of road and bridge, with a completed volume of about 50% of the progress.
According to Mr. Le Dinh Duy, to meet the progress requirements according to the direction of the Government and the Prime Minister, the contractor has added more machinery and equipment, organized overtime, worked through holidays and Tet, and made efforts to overcome adverse weather conditions. Currently, the unit has mobilized more than 30 construction equipment, along with about 50 officials and workers working regularly at the construction site, and is arranged to divide shifts reasonably to ensure continuous construction.



According to the Can Tho City Traffic and Agricultural Construction Investment Project Management Board, by the end of 2025, the progress of component projects on the Chau Doc - Can Tho - Soc Trang expressway has achieved positive results. In which, component project 2 reached 48.83%, component project 3 reached 55.09%, component project 4 reached 45.35%, bringing the overall progress of 3 component projects to 49.13%.
Regarding material sources, the total demand for leveling sand for component projects is about 20.101 million m3. To date, the project has identified about 15 million m3, of which 9.111 million m3 has been exploited and transported to the construction site. The rest is still working with localities such as An Giang, Dong Thap, Vinh Long to supplement the supply.
For stone materials, the total demand is about 3.143 million m3. Currently, 0.723 million m3 has been collected and used; the volume has been sourced to reach 1.838 million m3. The remaining part is still being contacted and registered by the investor and contractors at stone mines in Dong Nai and Ho Chi Minh City, basically meeting construction requirements in the coming time.
The Chau Doc - Can Tho - Soc Trang expressway construction investment project phase 1 has a length of 188.2 km, a scale of 4 lanes, a total investment of 44,691 billion VND; the required progress is basically completing the entire route in 2026 and completing and putting the entire project into synchronous operation in 2027.
