On the second day of the new year 2026, passenger traffic through Tan Son Nhat International Airport still maintained a high level. Statistics show a notable shift when the number of international departing passengers skyrocketed, surpassing the number of domestic passengers.
According to a report from the Tan Son Nhat Airport Operations Center, the operating plan on January 2 recorded a total of 749 flights taking off and landing, transporting 119,874 passengers. Compared to the beginning of the year, the total number of passengers continued to remain stable at a high level, reflecting the large travel demand of people and tourists during the New Year holiday.

In fact, the international terminal area today is busier and more crowded than the domestic terminal. Accordingly, while domestic passengers on domestic routes are about 28,300 people, the flow of people completing procedures to go abroad is higher, reaching more than 30,300. Thus, international passengers have surpassed domestic passengers by 2,000, creating a particularly bustling scene in the departure area right after the holiday.

In the opposite direction, people from provinces and cities began to flock to Ho Chi Minh City to prepare for the new working week. On January 2, the airport will welcome nearly 34,000 domestic passengers to land.
Notably, the pressure to welcome the flow of people back to this city has been effectively relieved thanks to new infrastructure. Instead of being locally concentrated in the old station as every year, Terminal T3 alone today has carried more than 20,000 passengers.

The traffic diversion of most passengers returning through the new, spacious and modern T3 terminal has made the luggage conveyor belt area and taxi waiting hall at the old T1 terminal "easier to breathe". The scene of congestion and fatigue waiting for luggage often seen after the holiday has decreased significantly, making people's journey back to the city more convenient and lighter.
