In Lang Nu village, Phuc Khanh commune (Bao Yen, Lao Cai), in the last days of 2024, workers are rushing to complete the memorial area before handing it over.
Present at the memorial stele construction site next to the Lang Nu village cultural house, a reporter from Lao Dong newspaper noted that the construction project is almost complete. Only a few small items are still being implemented by workers.
At the village’s cultural house, many photos are displayed, marking the dark times when the storm and flood occurred. Along with that is the resilience of the people, the solidarity of compatriots across the country when giving all support and love to Lang Nu.
The memorial site is modest in scale but solemn in appearance. At the center of the area is a memorial stele engraved with the names of the victims, surrounded by greenery. The project also includes an exhibition space for photos, documents and stories about those tragic days.
All items are solemnly designed to remind people of great losses. At the same time, reminding them of the spirit of overcoming adversity.
This is not only a place to leave memories, but also a source of encouragement for each person to move forward, carrying faith and hope for the future.
