Regarding the driver who was given first aid in the accident on the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay Expressway, Dr. CKII Truong The Hiep - Head of the General Planning Department, Cho Ray Hospital said that after the accident, 2 injured cases were given first aid at Long Khanh - Dong Nai Hospital, including one case who was transferred to Cho Ray Hospital, patient V.V.H (born in 1950, residing in Gia Lai).
The patient was transferred to the Emergency Department of Cho Ray Hospital at 4:15 a.m. on December 18 in a state of emergency. Currently, the patient is being cared for and treated at the burns - Forms Department, Cho Ray Hospital with the diagnosis: Fever of 5% grade II, facial quarter- limbs/Cronic hepatitis C. The patient is currently receiving further treatment.
Also related to this accident, many public opinion opinions said that the ambulance driver involved in the accident was an employee of Cho Ray Hospital. Responding to this issue, Dr. Truong The Hiep said that the emergency vehicle involved in the accident was a transport vehicle of an outside unit, with a contract signed with Cho Ray Hospital to allow vehicles to enter and exit the hospital gate to serve the work of picking up and dropping off patients (not a contract to operate professional emergency services). Therefore, this is not a vehicle of Cho Ray Hospital and the driver is not an employee of Cho Ray Hospital.
As reported by Lao Dong Newspaper, at around 0:15 on December 18, an ambulance crashed into the rear of a tractor-trailer parked at the entrance slope of the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay Expressway rest stop.
After the collision, the ambulance caught fire fiercely and was almost burned down. There were all 5 people in the car (including the driver), at that time 2 people had time to get out of the car, the remaining 3 people were trapped in the car and died.
The accident is continuing to be investigated and clarified by the authorities.
