On January 7, according to Lao Dong, the People's Committee of Dien Bien province has just issued Decision No. 2389/QD-UBND on administrative sanctions for violations in the field of domestic violence prevention and control.
The person fined is Mr. Vang A Kh. (born in 1999, residing in Hua Ngai commune, Muong Cha district, Dien Bien province). The fine is 11 million VND.
Accordingly, on September 24, 2024, Mr. Vang A Kh. and his wife, Ms. Khang Thi D. (born in 2000), had an argument. The reason was that Kh. suspected his wife of having a lover outside.
In a fit of anger, Vang A Kh. used about 300ml - 400ml of gasoline available in a plastic can, poured it on a pile of blankets and pillows, and then set it on fire.
When the fire broke out, Ms. D., who was sitting nearby, suffered burns to her back and left arm. The injury assessment result was 9%.
Based on the fact that immediately afterwards, Mr. Kh. voluntarily confessed, repented, apologized to Ms. D., and Ms. D. herself did not have any other requests, the People's Committee of Dien Bien province decided to only administratively punish Mr. Kh.
