On the morning of November 8, Gia Lai Provincial Party Secretary Thai Dai Ngoc directly inspected the damage situation and the work to overcome the consequences of storm No. 13 in a number of coastal communes of the province.
In De Gi commune, storm No. 13 completely collapsed 8 houses, including 6 households in An Quang Dong village, 1 household in Chanh Danh village and 1 household in Thai Binh village. The whole commune had about 700 damaged houses with roofs blown off; 255 aquaculture cages were severely damaged.

Through the inspection, Gia Lai Provincial Party Secretary Thai Dai Ngoc praised the proactive response of the government, armed forces and people of De Gi commune. He requested the locality to continue mobilizing forces to support people to rebuild their houses, restore production, and soon stabilize their lives.
The commune government fully and accurately counted the damage to report to the province for timely support plans; absolutely do not let people lack food and accommodation after the storm. "We must consider helping people overcome the consequences of storm No. 13 as an urgent task, a top priority," Mr. Thai Dai Ngoc emphasized.

Along with inspecting the recovery work, the Secretary of the Gia Lai Provincial Party Committee visited, encouraged, and shared the difficulties and losses with households that suffered heavy damage caused by storm No. 13.
In Phu My Bac commune, the storm completely collapsed 7 houses, 454 houses were damaged, roofs were blown off, and estimated damage was nearly 16 billion VND. Local authorities are mobilizing forces to support people in repairing their houses and cleaning up the environment to soon stabilize their lives.

The Provincial Party Secretary noted that local authorities need to review, plan and rearrange safe residential areas, limiting the situation of people building spontaneous houses in coastal areas - areas that are often strongly affected by storms and high tides.
"We must proactively re-plan residential space, ensure the safety of people's lives and property in the face of natural disasters; speed up the progress of overcoming the consequences of the storm so that people can soon stabilize their lives," Mr. Thai Dai Ngoc emphasized.
To help people quickly overcome the consequences of the storm, Gia Lai province decided to support money and working days to rebuild houses collapsed in the storm for people. Each household with a collapsed house is supported with 60 million VND; households with a house whose roof is blown off are supported with 2 - 5 million VND, depending on the level of damage.
The Provincial Party Secretary requested military units, police, youth unions, and associations to coordinate with local authorities to mobilize forces and actively participate in helping people repair and rebuild their houses. The government needs to pay special attention to poor households and disadvantaged households; arrange temporary accommodation while waiting for the construction and repair of new houses.
The Provincial Party Secretary also directed competent agencies to strengthen inspection and supervision of construction material prices, avoiding the situation of taking advantage of natural disasters to increase prices for the benefit of the people.
According to initial statistics, storm No. 13 killed 2 people and injured 8 people; 199 houses collapsed, nearly 12,500 houses had their roofs blown off; 15 ships sank, 42 ships were damaged; 334 aquaculture cages were swept away; 358 electric poles and transformer stations were broken and damaged; many roads were severely eroded; thousands of hectares of rice and crops were damaged; many livestock and poultry died...
