The working delegation of Lao Cai province directly inspected the construction progress, grasped difficulties and obstacles related to the projects: Border bridge across the Red River and connecting infrastructure; leveling ground, roads and essential infrastructure of Ban Vuoc border gate area; National gate and inter-sectoral control house of Ban Vuoc border gate area; A Mu Sung Inter-level Boarding School for Primary and Secondary School.
In which, the border bridge project across the Red River and connecting infrastructure are identified as key transport projects, playing a particularly important role in strengthening connectivity in the Ban Vuoc border gate area, promoting trade between Vietnam and China.
According to the design, the main bridge over the Red River is built in the form of Extradosed (low-tower cable-stayed bridge), the span diagram on the Chinese side is 60m + 110m + 60m; the Vietnamese side invests in building 1/2 of the main bridge, 115 m long.
The bridge girder is made of prestressed reinforced concrete, constructed using the cantilever casting method combined with a fan-like woven cable; the tower pier is 20 m high from the bridge deck.

The bridge is 35.3 m wide, belonging to the group of bridges with large cross-sections. The bridge and approach road on the Vietnamese side are about 40 m long, using prestressed reinforced concrete box girders cast on fixed scaffolding; the bridgehead road is 232.5 m long with an asphalt concrete road surface structure.
The total investment of the entire project is about 1,500 billion VND, of which Vietnam implements the bridge construction part with a cost of over 280 billion VND.
To date, the contractor has completed the entire lower structure including abutment M2, pier T9 and pier T8. The main construction value reaches about 64% of the project volume.
According to the investor's report, during the implementation process, the project encountered many difficulties due to complex geological conditions and weather effects.
Some bridge pier items are completely located under the river, so they are often affected by rain and floods; the high prices of fuel and construction materials also directly affect the construction progress.

Inspecting the reality at the project, the Secretary of the Lao Cai Provincial Party Committee emphasized that this is a project of particular importance for border gate economic development, logistics and trade connection between Vietnam and China; and at the same time contributes to completing the transport infrastructure of the Ban Vuoc border gate area.
Faced with difficulties in construction conditions, the impact of rain and floods, fluctuations in material prices and high technical requirements, Mr. Duong Quoc Huy requested departments, branches, localities, investors and contractors to continue to closely coordinate, proactively remove difficulties, focus manpower and equipment, and take advantage of favorable weather to accelerate construction progress.
In addition, the units pay special attention to ensuring labor safety, construction quality and environmental protection; strengthen coordination and regular exchanges with Yunnan province (China) to agree on technical solutions, materials and implementation progress, striving to complete the project according to the set plan.
