Quang Tri Provincial Party Secretary encourages forces to take DNA samples to identify martyrs

Quang Tri - Secretary of the Quang Tri Provincial Party Committee encouraged and praised the spirit and responsibility of the force taking samples of martyrs' remains at the National Martyrs' Cemetery on Road 9.

On July 13, a delegation of leaders of Quang Tri province led by Comrade Nguyen Van Phuong - Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Military Party Committee as head of the delegation came to inspect, visit, encourage and give gifts to forces performing tasks of taking samples, digitizing information and handing over samples of martyrs' remains at the National Martyrs' Cemetery (NTLS) on Road 9 (Dong Ha ward, Quang Tri province).

Participating in the delegation were Colonel Truong Viet Hai - Political Commissar of the Provincial Military Command, Standing Deputy Head of the Steering Committee for searching, repatriating and identifying martyrs' remains of the province, along with representatives of leaders of the Department of Home Affairs, the Center for Nursing People with Meritorious Services and Management of Martyrs' Cemeteries, the Area 4 - Trieu Phong Defense Command and related units.

Before inspecting the site, the working delegation respectfully offered flowers, incense and observed a minute of silence to commemorate the great contributions of the heroic martyrs at the cemetery.

According to the plan, this time functional forces will take samples for 5,929 martyrs' graves that have not been identified at the National Road 9 Martyrs' Cemetery. All related records and data will be digitized and synchronously updated on the management system to serve storage, comparison and DNA testing, contributing to gradually identifying the identities of heroic martyrs.

Through actual inspection, the working delegation highly appreciated the sense of responsibility of the participating forces. Sampling work was implemented seriously, in accordance with technical procedures, ensuring scientific, accurate and solemnity. Each stage from determining the location of the grave, taking samples, preserving, sealing to digitizing information and handing over samples was carried out strictly, absolutely without any confusion.

Provincial Party Secretary Nguyen Van Phuong acknowledged and praised the dedication of officials and employees directly performing their duties. The comrade emphasized that taking samples of martyrs' remains for DNA testing is a task of profound political and humanistic significance, meeting the longing of relatives of martyrs' families across the country, showing the morality of "When drinking water, remember the source" of the nation.

On the same day, the Area 4 - Trieu Phong Defense Command (Quang Tri Provincial Military Command) also visited, encouraged and presented gifts to forces performing tasks at National Martyrs' Cemetery of Road 9, contributing to encouraging the spirit of officers and soldiers to excellently complete their tasks in the "500 Days and Nights" Campaign.
