On November 22, the Border Guard Command of Binh Dinh province held a conference to summarize the project to destroy a network of organizations and brokers for others to exit and enter the country to bring fishing boats and fishermen to illegally exploit aquatic products outside of Vietnam's waters (Project BD924p).
At the conference, Chairman of Binh Dinh Provincial People's Committee Pham Anh Tuan awarded certificates of merit from the Provincial People's Committee to 4 collectives and 7 individuals; Provincial Border Guard awarded certificates of merit to 4 individuals with outstanding achievements in the fight against Project BD924p.
Mr. Pham Anh Tuan also praised the outstanding achievements and feats of officers and soldiers of the provincial Border Guard and related forces in the fight against project BD924p.
"This is the first project of the provincial authorities, with the participation of several southern provinces to verify, combat and handle the crime of sending fishing vessels to violate foreign waters to illegally exploit aquatic resources.
The successful implementation of the project demonstrates the determination and leadership of Binh Dinh province in the fight against and handling violations of regulations against illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing," Mr. Pham Anh Tuan assessed.
With the determination to achieve the goal of removing the European Commission's (EC) yellow card warning on seafood, creating favorable conditions for fishermen to confidently go offshore, Mr. Pham Anh Tuan requested the Provincial Border Guard to continue to thoroughly grasp, lead, and direct the serious and effective implementation, ensuring the progress of the contents, tasks, and instructions of the Secretariat, the Government, and the Provincial People's Committee on IUU.
At the same time, continue to increase forces and means to carry out peak patrols, strictly inspect fishing vessels entering and leaving ports, resolutely prevent and strictly handle fishing vessels that do not meet the conditions to participate in fishing.
Urgently review and thoroughly handle cases of illegal exploitation in foreign waters, organizations and individuals who are brokers and liaisons, ensuring specific results and data to work with the 5th EC Inspection Delegation when it comes to inspect in Binh Dinh.
On this occasion, the Chairman of Binh Dinh Provincial People's Committee also commended the Provincial Border Guard for being twice honored as a typical example nationwide in studying and following Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and style during the 2020-2025 term.
