On November 28, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Truyen - Director of the Center for Disease Control of Binh Dinh province said that, in the face of the complicated developments of A/H1pdm flu in the area, the provincial Department of Health has directed hospitals and medical facilities in the area to strengthen prevention and control of A/H1pdm flu.
Binh Dinh Provincial Department of Health recommends that units encourage all medical staff, employees, and workers working at medical facilities to proactively get vaccinated against influenza.
Medical examination and treatment facilities need to immediately apply medical isolation measures and promptly notify the District Health Center and the Center for Disease Control to coordinate disease surveillance and prevention when detecting suspected or confirmed cases of influenza infection...
"The most important thing people need to do to prevent the epidemic is to get vaccinated against seasonal flu, especially for children under 5 years old, people over 65 years old, and people with underlying diseases, because flu strains are circulating in the air and are very difficult to detect," said Mr. Truyen.
According to the Center for Disease Control of Binh Dinh province, up to now, Binh Dinh province has recorded more than 840 cases of influenza. There are 9 cases of influenza A/H1pdm (Quy Nhon city 4 cases, Phu My district 3 cases, An Nhon town and Vinh Thanh district 1 case).
"Of the 9 cases of A/H1pdm flu, 4 have died, the remaining cases tend to become more serious, including 2 cases requiring ventilators. The A/H1pdm flu cases appear sporadically, not related to each other," Mr. Truyen informed.
Recently, the Department of Preventive Medicine (Ministry of Health) has requested the Department of Health of Binh Dinh province to urgently direct medical units to effectively implement disease prevention and control work.
The Department of Preventive Medicine requested the Department to urgently direct medical units to strengthen surveillance activities, early detection of flu cases, and implement measures to thoroughly handle outbreaks and limit widespread spread.
Coordinate with Pasteur Institute Nha Trang to proactively assess risks, analyze the situation to deploy appropriate and timely anti-epidemic measures.
Ensure admission, emergency, triage, and treatment, minimizing deaths, paying special attention to flu cases in high-risk groups such as pregnant women, people with chronic diseases, the elderly, and children.
At the same time, it is recommended that medical examination and treatment facilities contact drug trading and importing establishments to proactively make plans and purchase antiviral drugs Oseltamivir or Zanamivir, ensuring sufficient drugs to meet treatment needs.
It is recommended that Binh Dinh Pharmaceutical and Medical Equipment Joint Stock Company (Bidiphar) proactively contact facilities supplying drugs containing Oseltamivir or Zanamivir with circulation registration numbers in Vietnam to promptly supply them to the treatment needs of medical examination and treatment facilities in the province.
