On November 26, speaking with Lao Dong, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Truyen - Director of the Center for Disease Control of Binh Dinh province (Department of Health) said that the current changing season has caused the number of A/H1pdm flu cases to increase and tend to become more severe.
"The A/H1pdm flu cases appear sporadically and are not related to each other. Up to now, Binh Dinh has recorded 9 A/H1pdm flu cases, including 4 deaths. Currently, 2 cases are in serious condition and are being put on ventilators and monitored," said Mr. Truyen.
According to the Director of the Center for Disease Control of Binh Dinh province, in the face of the complicated developments of the epidemic, the Department of Health of Binh Dinh province has requested units to encourage all medical staff, employees, and workers working at medical facilities to proactively get vaccinated against influenza.
Medical examination and treatment facilities need to immediately apply medical isolation measures and promptly notify the District Health Center and the Center for Disease Control to coordinate disease surveillance and prevention when detecting suspected or confirmed cases of influenza infection.
Quickly assess the patient's condition and classify the severity of the disease. Cases showing signs of worsening require a combination of intensive resuscitation with root cause treatment and timely referral to a higher level of care to minimize mortality.
Medical centers of districts, towns and cities strengthen monitoring and detection of cases with symptoms of influenza syndrome and suspected cases of influenza. Organize epidemiological investigations, collect samples for testing to detect early cases, outbreaks and isolate, handle and limit spread to the community...
"The most important thing people need to do to prevent the epidemic is to get vaccinated against seasonal flu, especially for children under 5 years old, people over 65 years old, and people with underlying diseases, because flu strains are circulating in the air and are very difficult to detect," Mr. Truyen added.
As reported by Lao Dong, as of November 20, 2024, Binh Dinh province recorded 842 cases of influenza. Monitoring 22 cases of severe pneumonia suspected to be caused by the virus, 9 cases were found to be positive for influenza A/H1pdm (Quy Nhon city 4 cases, Phu My district 3 cases, An Nhon town and Vinh Thanh district 1 case). Of which, 4 deaths were recorded.
Binh Dinh Province Department of Health said that the number of severe cases of A/H1pdm flu and deaths has increased rapidly in the past 2 weeks.
