According to statistics from the Lao Cai Provincial Department of Agriculture and Environment, the heavy rain with thunderstorms occurred from the night of July 15 to July 22, affecting 13 communes, with preliminary damage of about 93.19 billion VND.
Lao Chai suffered the heaviest damage with an estimated value of nearly 58.68 billion VND, accounting for about 63% of the total damage of the whole province.
This commune has 224 affected houses, more than 71 hectares of damaged crops and hundreds of landslide points on the transportation system and many essential infrastructure projects.
In two days, July 23 and 24, dozens of officers and soldiers of Regiment 121 mobilized from Mu Cang Chai commune to Hu Tru Linh village, directly supporting people to clean up mud and soil and overcome damage.
The force is divided into many working groups to go to households affected by landslides, coordinate with militia, youth union members and people to collect soil and rocks, move property, clean houses, clear sewers and treat the environment after floods.
Under hot weather, hilly terrain divided along with a large workload, officers and soldiers are still diligently working, contributing to helping people soon stabilize their accommodation.
In addition to supporting the overcoming of consequences, officers and soldiers also cordially inquired and encouraged families who suffered heavy losses, adding more spirit to help people overcome difficulties and gradually restore production and life.
Leaders of Lao Chai commune were also directly present at the scene, together with forces participating in supporting people, mobilizing maximum resources to accelerate the progress of disaster recovery.
In the context that the locality still lacks manpower and means, the timely support of Regiment 121 has contributed to reducing the burden on local authorities and people, and accelerating the progress of overcoming the consequences after natural disasters.
Previously, on July 18, the Lao Cai Provincial Military Command mobilized 50 officers and soldiers of Regiment 121 to march nearly 200km to Mu Cang Chai commune to coordinate with local authorities and forces to participate in overcoming the consequences of natural disasters.
At the same time, supporting the relocation of assets, helping households soon stabilize their lives and ensure traffic to isolated villages and hamlets.

From July 16 to July 17, 2026, prolonged heavy rain occurred in Muong Than commune, Lai Chau province, causing flash floods, landslides and serious landslides, sweeping away 13 houses of people. By 5 pm on July 20, 2026, natural disasters had caused 07 deaths, 02 missing people and 08 injured people, causing heavy damage to people and property, pushing many families into extremely difficult circumstances.
