Right from its birth, the Vietnam Veterans Association (CCB) determined that participating in building and protecting the Party, State and socialist regime was a top priority political task.
In the context of hostile forces promoting "peaceful evolution", taking advantage of social networks to spread wrong and toxic views, the Veterans Association further promotes its core and exemplary role at the grassroots level. Each member is not only a good citizen but also a "soldier" on the ideological front, using experience and prestige to mobilize the masses and fight against distorted arguments.
In recent years, this work has been systematically implemented by the Association, achieving many remarkable results. In particular, since Resolution 35-NQ/TW of the Politburo, Steering Committee 35 of the Veterans Association at all levels has been operating more drastically.
Every year, based on the plans of the Central Government and Party committees at all levels, the Association develops guidelines close to the local reality, helping the struggle work to go deeper, avoiding formalism and bureaucracy.
In addition, the Vietnam Veterans Association also upholds the spirit of self-reliance and self-strengthening, helping each other develop the economy, improve life, strive for sustainable poverty reduction and legal enrichment.
Implementing Directive No. 05-CT/TW of the Secretariat on strengthening the Party's leadership over sustainable poverty reduction to 2030, in recent years, the Veterans Associations at all levels have affirmed their pioneering and exemplary role. With the spirit of "Old but not old", the Association has turned the fighting spirit of the past into a driving force for economic development, making an important contribution to the stability and development of the country.
Deeply understanding the Party's viewpoint that economic development is the central task, the Associations at all levels have proactively and widely deployed the movement "CCB help each other reduce poverty, do good business".
To date, the poverty rate in the National Veterans Association has decreased to below 1.5%; the rate of well-off and rich households has reached over 55%.
Vietnamese veterans have more than 3 million members, accounting for about 3% of the country's population; Former Vietnamese People's Police have more than 140,000 members. This is a force that always promotes the qualities of "Uncle Ho's soldiers" and the tradition of "For the country, forgetting oneself, serving the people", and is a reliable support in the task of protecting the people, protecting the Party and the government.
