On September 30, the People's Committees of Ia Pa and Po To communes (Gia Lai province) announced that they had just received the handover and put into use the embankment project to prevent landslides on riverbanks and streams in the area.
The project has a total length of more than 3 km, deployed in 3 serious landslide areas including: Chu Rang 2 power pumping station area (Po To commune), Quy Duc village area and Ia K dam bridge area ( Ia Pa commune).
The project started construction from July to December 2024, with an investment of 150 billion VND from the central reserve budget in 2023.
The embankment has a sloped roof structure, cement concrete road surface, drainage system... After completion, the project was inspected, accepted and assessed by the Gia Lai Provincial Investment and Construction Project Management Board (the investor) as eligible for exploitation and use.

As reported by Lao Dong Newspaper, recently, in Ia Pa and Po To communes, riverbank erosion has occurred seriously. Many landslides have eaten deep into production land, directly threatening residential areas, and even threatening to affect the main national highway - Truong Son Dong road.
Statistics show that these two communes currently have 19 landslides with a total length of more than 16 km. Every year, landslides wash away about 23,600 m2 of productive land and many areas of residential land of the people.
Landslides directly threaten the lives and houses of many households, especially during the rainy and stormy season. Therefore, the completion of the embankment on schedule has helped hundreds of households settle down.
