On September 30, Mr. Nguyen Phuc Nhan - Director of the Department of Construction of Quang Ngai province - said that the department had directed communes and wards in mountainous areas to be vigilant against the risk of landslides; at the same time, requested construction units to focus on human resources and means to rescue and clear the road system when serious incidents occurred.
The impact of continuous storms in recent days has caused many mountainous roads such as Sa Thay, Mo Rai, Dak Plo, DT.674... to collapse, hundreds of cubic meters of rock and soil spilled onto the road.

Traffic was paralyzed, trees and rocks blocked the road, threatening the lives of passersby. Mr. Nguyen Van An (residing in Kon Braih commune) said: "After the merger, the number of people, officers and passenger vans moving to Quang Ngai city increased a lot. When passing through the mountainous road, especially Violak Pass, many sections on both sides of the road are covered with water, making everyone worried.
Lo Xo Pass - bordering Da Nang City and Quang Ngai Province - is more than 40 km long, with a winding, steep road that is difficult to move. There has been a situation where soil and trees have overflowed onto Ho Chi Minh Road. The muddy, slippery soil makes it difficult for drivers to travel through this road.
Meanwhile, there is still a potential risk of further landslides from the elevation, threatening the safety of people traveling.

According to Mr. A Duy Khanh - Vice Chairman of Dak Plo Commune People's Committee - previously, the leaders of Quang Ngai province, Department of Construction and Road Management Area III established an interdisciplinary inspection team to conduct field surveys at locations at high risk of landslides on Lo Xo Pass.
Notably, there are two locations with frog jaw erosion. When it rains heavily, the hills and soil are waterlogged, easily causing a large amount of rock and soil to flow onto the road. In particular, this pass has a high traffic density for passenger cars and freight vehicles.
The Department of Construction of Quang Ngai province has directed Kon Tum Construction & Traffic Management Joint Stock Company to be on duty, prepare human resources and means to urgently clear the road when there is a landslide.
For national highways such as Ho Chi Minh Road and Truong Son Dong Road (under the management of Road Management Area III), Kon Tum Road Management & Construction Joint Stock Company is responsible for closely following the scene and promptly fixing the problem of landslides and road damage.
