Ministry of Interior responds to information on Falun Gong issue

HƯƠNG NHA |

According to the Ministry of the Interior, only a very small number of people take advantage of Falun Gong for bad purposes.

Nghe An province has just requested the Ministry of Home Affairs to continue advising the Prime Minister to direct relevant ministries and branches to report on the results of implementing the Prime Minister's direction in Notice of Conclusion No. 122/TB-VPCP dated August 10, 2018 of the Government Office on the issue of Falun Gong.

Responding to Nghe An province about this content, the Ministry of Home Affairs said that Falun Gong is a practice of "body and mind" (health and spirit) based on the combination of many subjects and many schools of practice related to health and spirit (qigong, meditation, yoga, dance...). Falun Gong is not a religion (Falun Gong also does not consider itself a religion).

However, Falun Gong teachings use some concepts related to Buddhism (fate, karma, reincarnation...).

The vast majority of people follow Falun Gong for the purpose of improving their health and cultivating their character. Only a very small number of people use Falun Gong for bad purposes. The work on Falun Gong is currently carried out under the direction of many authorities.

The Government has issued the Notice "Conclusion of the Prime Minister on the issue of Falun Gong" (Notice No. 122/TB-VPCP dated September 25, 2018 of the Government Office); Official Dispatch No. 1035/TGCP-TGK dated September 25, 2018 of the Government Committee for Religious Affairs on work on Falun Gong; Official Dispatch No. 526/BNV-TGCP dated December 6, 2019 of the Ministry of Home Affairs on some issues on Falun Gong...

Some relevant ministries and sectors such as Health, Information and Communications, and Culture have not yet had annual reports or results on the tasks assigned by the Prime Minister in Notice No. 122/TB-VPCP, so the Government does not have enough information to summarize.

Therefore, in the coming time, the Ministry of Home Affairs recommends that local authorities continue to implement Notice No. 122/TB-VPCP and related guiding documents.
